One of the biggest strengths of this Michigan basketball team is the 3-point shooting. We didn’t necessarily forecast that as a strength to start the season, but the Wolveriners rank in the top 100 in 3-point makes, attempts, and percentage.
Michigan ranks 42nd in 3-point percentage at 38.2. U-M is also making 9.5 per game and looking at Indiana, the Hoosiers aren’t a great defensive team. They rank 128th in total scoring defense, but the key for the Wolverines is the Hoosiers really struggle to defend the 3-point line.
Opposing teams are making 8.6 3-pointers per game which ranks 311th in all of college basketball. Indiana is also allowing 33 percent makes which is 214th.
The Wolverines need to score the ball inside — no question a big key — but if they don’t take advantage of Indiana’s poor 3-point defense, it will be a missed opportunity.
