DL Walter Nolen

If it wasn’t for the NIL factor, Michigan football might have landed Walter Nolen as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2022 class.

Nolen has already entered the transfer portal and while the SEC could be a likely destination, Michigan football has proven to be one of the best programs in the country at developing defensive line talent, plus, it has become an attractive place in the portal.

Michigan doesn’t have pay-for-play NIL deals in place like other programs. But you can see from guys like J.J. McCarthy, Kris Jenkins, and others that lack of NIL isn’t an issue, you just have to earn it, which Nolen could easily do in Ann Arbor.

Jenkins will be heading to the NFL draft. Cam Goode is also going to be gone, so the Wolverines could use another body in the middle and Nolen would pair nicely with Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant.
