Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy (9) celebrates a touchdown against UNLV scored by running back Blake Corum (2) during the first half at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. /

Blake The Great delivers his defining performance

Bottom line: I don’t see Michigan football winning this game without a great performance from Blake Corum.

It’s possible that McCarthy will carry Michigan to a win. The defense is going to have something to say about that too, but I think Corum needs to rush for 100 yards or close for Michigan to win.

I’m not saying that he needs to have a game like Hassan Haskins or even Donovan Edwards did last year. But he’s going to need a similar effort to what we saw against Penn State.

Corum is also healthy against Ohio State for the first time. He barely played last season and was banged up two years ago, even though he ripped off a huge run in the third quarter.

Corum hasn’t quite been the same this season, coming off the knee injury and that’s expected. But he’s looked more like himself the past two weeks and I see him rushing for around 100 yards and two touchdowns in a legendary performance.
