3 takeaways from Michigan basketball’s win over Stanford

2. Balanced scoring paced the offense
All five of Michigan’s starters scored 10 or above in Thursday night’s win. Tarris Reed was 100%, while Dug McDaniel was two assists away from a double-double. Will Tschetter had seven off the bench, as they continue to wait for the return of Jaelin Llewellyn to give them another capable pine player.
In five of the six games Michigan’s offense has broken the 80-point barrier or more. The defense, on the other hand, is not going to get magically solved overnight. In the Memphis loss, they could have folded, but they may have found something that can carry them over to the rest of the season if they can figure it out on a nightly basis.
They scored 16 more points on Thursday than they did on Wednesday and shot at a 20% better rate. They also cut down on the turnovers but didn’t own a distinct advantage in the rebound category like they did in the Memphis loss.
The mere fact that they could have won that game shows that they have the resiliency to bounce back from anything put in their way.
