3. Something’s wrong with J.J. McCarthy

For the second straight week, J.J. was not efficient in the passing game. He reverted back to his 2022 average. In all the last two weeks, he’s 19-31 for 200 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception going into the biggest game of his career. Is there reason to be concerned, sure, but we’ve seen this before and things couldn’t have gone better for the Wolverines.

This is an overreaction. McCarthy was told that he couldn’t throw it last year and he responded by making the most critical throws to beat Ohio State, then having a career day against TCU. He backed it up by improving almost every time out this year until the last two weeks. He doesn’t crack because of his meditating mindset.

He’s probably not 100% at this point in the season, but few are. The only thing that matters is winning and if Michigan beats Ohio State next Saturday, then all will be forgotten.

This could be McCarthy’s last shot at the Buckeyes, so lord knows he will go out swinging for another chance at greatness.
