Can Michigan football block out the noise and beat Maryland this week? Here are five predictions for the Wolverines.

The past few weeks have been exhausting for Michigan football fans. I’m sure it hasn’t been easy on the players or coaches either.

In another revelation, Chris Partridge was fired by Michigan on Friday because he tried to interfere with the investigation. There was no evidence that Partridge or any staff member knew. of what Connor Stalions was doing. But Partridge took steps to cover it up, apparently, which is why he was rightfully fired.

The cover-up is almost always worse than the crime. That’s the case here. At any rate, Rick Minter will take over as linebackers coach and Sherrone Moore will be the acting head coach.

Looking ahead to Saturday, here are five predictions for Michigan football vs. Maryland.

More throws and more success

This doesn’t count as a bold prediction but J.J. McCarthy is definitely going to throw the ball much more this week against Maryland.

The Terps do have a solid pass rush and rank fourth in the Big Ten in sacks. Michigan football is also second in sacks allowed and any protection issues will get figured out.

I’m not saying there aren’t some concerns at tackle, but the Wolverines can find a way to help guys out and not let the pass rush ruin the game.

Maryland allows opposing teams to complete more than 60 percent of their throws for an average of seven yards per reception.

J.J. McCarthy will take advantage and will throw at least two touchdowns.
