Michigan football: 4 players who (probably) won’t be back in 2024
By Josh Yourish
Donovan Edwards, RB
Last offseason, Donovan Edwards was surprised, along with the rest of college football, that Blake Corum came back for his senior season and even though Michigan could win a national championship, Corum might be regretting it.
Last season, Corum rushed for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns with an average of 5.9 yards per carry. This year, he already has 18 touchdowns, but he’s at 5.2 yards per carry and doesn’t seem to have the same breakaway speed.
Running backs are more valuable to the NFL with less tread on their tires, so Edwards will likely be headed to the draft this year, and might even be drafted ahead of Corum. Edwards has only run for 284 yards on 84 carries, an average of 3.4 with just three touchdowns. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry in 2022.
