5 things we learned in epic Michigan football win over Penn State
The signs didn’t matter
Rivals that need to find an excuse for the incompetence of their head coaches, got what they wanted in this whole “sign gate” scandal. Ryan Day and James Franklin did too.
But Michigan football proved once and for all on Saturday, that this had nothing to do with signs. The Wolverines ran the ball against No. 2 run defense 32 times in a row in the second half — and won by two scores.
That was the fifth straight win over Ohio State and Penn State. Only one of those games was a one-score game (2021 at Penn State).
Michigan has won three games without Connor Stalions by an average of 28 points. That includes a win over a top-10 team, without Jim Harbaugh.
Oh and by the way, Penn State led for a total of 5:21 on Saturday. That’s it, which is the only time the Wolverines have trailed in those last three games without Stalions.
If you want to believe a staff member breaking a rule that offered “little competitive advantage” according to the NCAA, do whatever mental gymnastics you need to make that believable.
I saw with my own eyes on Saturday that Michigan football doesn’t need signs to dominate. Hell, the Wolverines don’t even need Jim Harbaugh to embarrass Franklin, which shows just how good the Wolverines really are.
