3 overreactions from Michigan Football’s win at Penn State

2. The offense didn’t trust J.J. McCarthy to throw it
This is debatable, but is still an overreaction, and let me explain why. The rushing attack was working enough to allow it, but more evidently Michigan’s defense performed at a championship level. Yes, Penn State’s offense is inept at times, but Jesse Minter’s unit is head and shoulders better than the competition.
McCarthy was cautious but still accurate. His legs did his talking for him on the field, although he didn’t run for an exceptional amount of yards, without him Michigan might not win this ball game. The fact that he hasn’t played much in the fourth quarter this year could have something to do with this too.
The good news is it could make his decision to stay at Michigan for his senior year more believable now. The bad news is that it may have cost him a realistic shot at the Heisman trophy. Either way, he didn’t care following his interview with Jenny Taft as he ran off the gridiron jumping for joy in excitement.
