3. Blake Corum should be utilized more

Don’t look now but Corum’s numbers have been diminishing for several weeks. He didn’t break the 50-yard barrier in either category. It’s not like Donovan Edwards or Kalel Mullings have been stealing touches from him. The focus of the offense has just been more on the quarterback than the running game this season.

That deems this to be an overreaction. Of course, using him more could result in another injury. Perhaps Michigan’s offense won’t let Corum and the rushing attack loose in Happy Valley, but we won’t find out until then. Corum still leads the nation in touchdowns but is not on pace for 1,000 yards in the regular season. Plus defenses have been daring Michigan football to beat them with the pass and J.J. McCarthy has obliged.

For the record, Corum has carried it about half as much as he did during his junior year. He certainly looks like he will break the Hassan Haskins touchdown record from 2021 and wind up second on the all-time list for running backs.

There’s no doubt November and running the football go together like peanut butter and jelly, and for Michigan, Corum and his army of blockers can carry them to the finish line.
