Can the running game get on track?

The Wolverines have been running the ball well, just not as well as they have in previous season. Michigan football is still running for 174 yards per game, which is fifth in the Big Ten.

Nebraska leads the Big Ten in rushing yards with 190 per game and the Huskers even struggled to run the ball against Purdue last week, getting 154 yards. Yet, before the Huskers’ final drive, they had under 100 yards rushing.

Purdue’s defensive front is solid and the Boilermakers actually rank fourth in the Big Ten in conference with sacks. So even though they rank last in the Big Ten in scoring defense, as well as 11 in rushing yards allowed (153 per game) running the ball on Saturday might not be easy.

It would be nice to see Michigan football get things going. Blake Corum has been solid but the running game needs to get cranked up in the month of November if the Wolverines want to win the Big Ten title and have a shot to win the national title.
