There was a report that Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh had a contract offer rescinded but according to John U. Bacon that’s ‘not accurate.’

It was another day of inaccurate reports and hit pieces from the national media relating to the NCAA investigation into Michigan football in-person scouting.

Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports actually wrote that multiple sources from a Big Ten school told him Michigan football is using ball boys to determine run or pass plays. This is despite the fact that Forde has no facts to back up the claim — other than anonymous claims from a coach with an axe to grind. It’s almost unbelievable, especially when you think of how unlikely it is.

The report said the source told Forde the ball boys listen to opposing team play calls and hold the football in a certain hand to indicate run or pass.

So in addition to looking at personnel, down and distance, and everything else, Jesse Minter has to focus on the ball boys first before he consults his play sheet.

How ridiculous — not to mention there isn’t a shred of evidence to support any of it.

Latest report on Jim Harbaugh ‘not accurate’

Yet, it wasn’t the final inaccurate report of the day regarding Michigan football. This one has to do with head coach Jim Harbaugh as the Wall Street Journal reported that the school had rescinded a contract offer to Harbaugh that would have made him the Big Ten’s highest-paid coach.

Harbaugh and Michigan football were engaged in contract talks before the news of this investigation. Things were put on hold, which was confirmed by Adam Rittenberg of ESPN. John U. Bacon, a Michigan insider, though, called the Wall Street Journal report, “Not accurate.”

Bacon said he would have more to say soon. Chris Balas of The Wolverine also said there were hints about some good news regarding the Harbaugh situation, so hopefully, Michigan football is smart enough to get a contract in front of Jim.
