Michigan football has a legit chance to be No. 1
After the butt-kicking Michigan football put on Minnesota, the Golden Gophers head coach said that the Wolverines were the best team he had seen in his 11 years as a head coach.
I’m not ready to say that Michigan is going to beat Georgia. I’m not even willing to say the Wolverines are going to run the table and beat Penn State or Ohio State.
Looking past either of those teams is a mistake. The road game against Maryland won’t be a cakewalk either.
But Michigan football absolutely has the talent of a team that can win a national championship. Looking at the starting defense (and even beyond) every single player is going to be drafted into the NFL.
You could probably say the same thing about the offense. Michigan football could break the NFL draft record and the team is filled with dudes who won’t even be draft-eligible in 2024 such as Will Johnson, Mason Graham, Colston Loveland, and Kenneth Grant who have certain NFL futures.
The talent is incredible but so is the execution. Michigan outrushed Minnesota 191-117. They had 432 yards compared to 169, committed one penalty, and had zero turnovers.
In the past two weeks, the defense has scored more touchdowns than the Wolverines have committed penalties.
The Wolverines have elite talent, they execute at an elite level and have an elite quarterback. So the ingredients are there to do something special.
