The offensive line combos

Michigan football’s offensive line battle has continued to play out over the course of the season. LaDarius Henderson continues to come on and it sounds like he’ll be starting going forward.

It’s hard to know with Jim Harbaugh, who also said that Trente Jones needs to play more. He also mentioned Myles Hinton, the starter at right tackle before missing last week due to injury.

Essentially, it feels like all seven offensive linemen are viewed as starting caliber by the Michigan football coaching staff. Harbaugh was even talking about having a rally group — substitutes that can play on the offensive line just like on the defensive line.

It’s not a bad idea. There is something to be said for having your five best guys out there together. Michigan football was mixing and matching in the first few weeks. The last two games have been the best, with the win over Nebraska being particularly impressive.

The Huskers were allowing 1.8 yards per game and Michigan averaged 4.9 on 49 attempts. That was with a lot of garbage time touches for backups too. So it feels like the starting five is settled, but we’ll see who plays where on Saturday night.
