Michigan football vs. Minnesota: Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 6
Michigan football is on the road for the second straight game against Minnesota on Saturday and here’s how to watch, the odds, and a prediction.
Following a dominant performance at Nebraska last week, Michigan football will be back on the road to take on Minnesota in the Battle for the Little Brown Jug.
The two teams haven’t met since 2020, but Jim Harbaugh is 3-0 against the Gophers, and the last two victories both came by double digits.
So far this season, Minnesota is 3-2. The Gophers are 1-1 in the Big Ten with wins over Nebraska (13-10) as well as a loss to Northwestern. The Gophers also dropped a game on the road against North Carolina.
At times, the running game has been spectacular behind Darius Taylor, a freshman who’s averaging 6.1 yards per attempt and more than 100 rushing yards per game (538 total).
Minnesota is rushing for 193 yards per game but averaging just 342 yards of total offense thanks to the struggles of quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis who is throwing for 149 yards per game with five touchdown passes and four interceptions.
Michigan football, on the other hand, is 5-0 and looking as good as any team in college football after dismantling Nebraska last week.
The Huskers are the only common opponent between the two teams and looking ahead to Week 6, here are the odds, how to watch, and our early prediction for the Wolverines against Minnesota.
Michigan football vs. Minnesota odds
According to DraftKings, the Wolverines are a 19.5-point favorite going into Saturday night’s game. The over/under is 46 and the money line is -1200 for Michigan football and plus 700 for Minnesota.

Michigan football vs. Minnesota Players to watch
Michigan
J.J. McCarthy is the guy to watch for the Wolverines. Minnesota has eight interceptions in five games. McCarthy has just three this season and all of them were in one game against Bowling Green. As long as McCarthy continues to light it up like he has the past few weeks and avoids turnovers, the Wolverines shouldn’t have any problems.
Minnesota
Darius Taylor is the guy to watch. If Minnesota gets him going on the ground, it will have a legitimate chance of pulling the upset. But if the Wolverines can hold the freshman running back in check, it’s going to be a long day for Athan Kaliakmanis and the offense.
Michigan football vs. Minnesota prediction against the spread
Minnesota has a solid defense. The Gophers specialize in taking the football away which is always a scary proposition for the favorite. But Michigan football is so solid on both fronts, I just don’t see the Gophers being able to hang.
Minnesota was stonewalled by the Nebraska defense, which Michigan ran through like a knife through butter.
The Gophers are good enough to make this a game if Michigan overlooks Minnesota and is sloppy the way it was against Bowling Green. Turnovers can change a game quickly.
But I expect the Wolverines to control the line of scrimmage and for McCarthy to keep playing like one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football.
Michigan 38, Minnesota 10.
