Michigan football trying to flip an EDGE

The high school season is underway, which means there are going to be some big risers in the rankings. Michigan coaches have been searching for these gems, and they appear to have found one in Kansas EDGE commit Deshawn Warner.

Warner is ranked as a high three-star with room to rise. He’s got the prototypical EDGE build at 6’4 225 lbs, and has an interest in Michigan.

Warner seems to have an interest in the Wolverines, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up in the class. We’re going to have to wait and see if Warner does in fact visit Michigan, but if he does and the staff puts on the full-court press, I’d expect him in the class.

Will Michigan go after any MSU commits?

With what’s happening at MSU, a handful of recruits are back on the market. While there hasn’t been much movement from Michigan yet, you’ve got to imagine they’re scouting these guys. A name that has been mentioned is four-star safety Reggie Powers.

Powers is another guy who’s been rising through the rankings. He’s a hard hitter who has the potential to be a great player in college. An Ohio native, Powers is in the region that Michigan has been trying to recruit, so it would make sense for the Wolverines to give him another look.

While it’s too early to tell if there’s anything here, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Anyone Else?

There hasn’t been a ton of new developments. Most recruits are focused on their senior seasons, and Michigan is obviously focused on their season. With the bye week not until the last week of October, we’re probably going to continue to not hear much.

I’d expect that things are going to heat up during the bye week, and that’s when we’ll have updates on guys like Nitro Tuggle. As the season progresses, we’re also going to get a sense of what coaches might be fired, what recruits might want to jump ship, and in general who is going to be available. Michigan’s going to be closely monitoring that.

Next. Mchigan football is undefeated against these teams. dark

My bet is that Michigan is going to try to schedule everybody for the Ohio State game. Who everybody is remains to be seen, but that’s definitely the goal. With another big win, this class could regain some much-needed momentum. Go Blue!
