Roman Wilson picks up where he left off

There’s a reason that Michigan football gave the No. 1 to Wilson. He’s really emerged this fall according to numerous reports and he’s always had elite speed.

Wilson had over 100 yards receiving in the Fiesta Bowl loss to TCU, catching multiple passes down the field and a touchdown.

Wilson battled with injuries last season, but that was a glimpse of what he could do and even though Cornelius Johnson is also back, the hope is that Wilson is the consistent big-play threat.

As we said, East Carolina isn’t great at defending the pass. At least the Pirates weren’t last season. Things could be different in 2023, but ECU shouldn’t be able to slow down Michigan’s running game — few teams in college football can.

That will lead to some play-action opportunities down the field and Wilson will be one of the benefactors. His speed catches people off guard and I expect him to catch a few bombs from McCarthy this season, one of them being on Saturday against East Carolina.
