Jim Harbaugh’s unique plan for Michigan football interim coach
Jim Harbaugh has announced who will be the Michigan football interim head coach and as you expected, the duties will be shared by four coaches.
Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh walks to the beat of a different drum. He always has and always will.
Heck, that’s probably what makes him so good at what he does. He sees things other people don’t see. He also has a very unique way of thinking and that was on display once again Thursday as Michigan football announced how it will handle his three-game suspension.
For the East Carolina game, Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator will serve as the interim head coach. The duties will be split in the second game between Jay Harbaugh (special teams coach) and Mike Hart (run game coordinator/RBs coach).
Sherrone Moore will return from his one-game suspension in the UNLV game and he will also serve as the interim head coach for the Bowling Green game.
"“I’m certain that all will be impressed with the four coaches’ ability to direct and manage the game,” said Harbaugh. “It’s been well documented that we have a very talented coaching staff and I believe that all 10 assistant coaches will be head coaches in the near future. They are all capable of leading a team at an elite level. I know that everyone will handle their responsibilities and help our players to be the best version of themselves on and off the field this fall and beyond.”"
It’s different but it’s a smart move. All four guys are working to be head coaches someday and have that capability. However, it is a bit strange to change head coaches in the middle of the game, but overall, it feels that it will be a collaborative effort when Harbaugh is away.
Michigan football also announced strength coach Ben Herbert has an added title of associate head coach. He’s been a huge weapon and hopefully, he get a raise too.
Jack Harbaugh was also announced as assistant head coach, which will bring another experienced mind to the staff and someone that Jim Harbaugh obviously trusts. Jack was a long-time assistant under Bo Schembechler.
