In our Michigan Wolverines news roundup, we cover the Michigan football scrimmage on Saturday, Jadyn Davis’s first game of 2023, and more.

A bunch of Michigan football commitments in the 2024 class opened their senior seasons this weekend and among them were four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis.

Over the summer, Davis has seen his ranking drop. When he first committed to the Michigan Wolverines, Davis was ranked as a five-star prospect out of Providence Day in Charlotte.

However, when Davis plays, things generally seem to go well and on Saturday night, the 2024 quarterback threw for 450 yards and five touchdowns. Two of those touchdown passes came to fellow Michigan football commitment Channing Goodwin.

One of them was an 80-yard touchdown. Davis hit Goodwin in stride and the Michigan Wolverines legacy took it to the house. Yet, there was another stellar catch in the end zone by Goodwin and that throw was a dime by Davis.

We have talked recently about one of Michigan football’s top recruits in the 2025 class — David Sanders — and here’s the top-ranked offensive tackle in his class dominating the competition.

Obviously, five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood is the top target for the Michigan Wolverines in the 2025 class. But Sanders is right there with him. The dude is elite.

Michigan football freshmen turn heads

Fredrick Moore had a big-time catch earlier this week in practice and the freshmen wide receivers continue to impress for the Michigan Wolverines.

Karmello Engish was mentioned in a report by Chris Balas of The Wolverine about the scrimmage held by Michigan football on Saturday. The blue-chip freshman is pushing for playing time along with Moore and fellow freshman receiver Semaj Morgan.

A bunch of Michigan Wolverines were held out due to caution, but it doesn’t sound like there are any injuries to be concerned about.

An update on Michigan Wolveriners kicker battle

Another piece of news from Balas is that James Turner, the transfer kicker from Louisville, had an impressive showing and is likely going to be the starter.

dark. Next. Projected Michigan football depth chart for 2023

That was sort of expected after Michigan football landed him from the transfer portal, but it’s still a positive report. Wolverines fans were spoiled by Jake Moody and even if Turner is good, it will be hard to live up to the guy that came before him.
