Freshman wide receiver Fredrick Moore is a name that Michigan football fans need to know going into the 2023 season.

From the day that Fredrick Moore committed to the Michigan football program, it was obvious that the Wolverines were getting a steal.

Moore was a productive player in high school but didn’t seem to run the fastest time in the 40-meter dash. Yet, when you watched him play, slow wasn’t a word that came to mind.

Not only was Moore a tremendous route-runner, he was always getting behind defenders and making big plays. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Moore ranked No. 520 overall in the 2023 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The St. Louis, Missouri product was one that felt like he could out-play his ranking, and this fall, in Michigan football fall camp, Moore is making a name for himself.

Fredrick Moore continues to impress as a Michigan football freshman

All three freshmen wideouts were mentioned by Jim Harbaugh in a recent interview. Semaj Morgan, the West Bloomfield product, was even shown catching a touchdown pass over Mike Sainristil earlier in fall camp.

Karmello English, a four-star signee from SEC country, has also made a solid impression. However, he didn’t enroll early as Morgan and Moore did.

It’s good to hear that the freshmen are making a positive impact, but on Friday, Michigan football released a video of J.J. McCarthy throwing the ball deep to Moore, with a caption, “Get ready for the 9-3 connection this fall.”

It’s just a social media post, but that seems to hint that Moore could work his way onto the field this fall. We know that Cornelius Johnson, Roman Wilson, Tyler Morris, and Darrius Clemons are probably the top four guys on the depth chart right now.

But don’t count out Morgan and definitely not Moore. He was overlooked during the recruiting process, even as a high three-star and the Wolverines, it appears, got a steal.

We’ll see what the impact is during his freshman season, but more importantly, it looks like the Wolverines added some solid reinforcements at a position that needed some for the future.
