WR Roman Wilson

Most pundits question Michigan football’s wide receivers and that’s generally viewed as one of the biggest weaknesses for the Wolverines.

But Roman Wilson seems poised for a big season. He’s never had even 500 yards receiving in a game but the five-catch, 104-yard performance against TCU was just a glimpse of what Wilson is capable of.

J.J. McCarthy has always had a solid rapport with Wilson and throughout fall camp, the talk has been about how well Wilson has played.

Now that Ronnie Bell has graduated, Wilson should have a more prominent role. I expect McCarthy to throw the ball more and with the way the Wolverines dominate on the ground, throwing deep to Wilson is a great way to keep teams honest.

The Hawaii native is one of the fastest players on the roster and is a true deep threat. He’s more than a one-trick pony though and he’s my pick to lead the Wolverines in receiving yards in 2023.

It’s unlikely that any Michigan receiver gets 1,000 yards, just based on the offense. But if things are really opened up, Wilson is the one guy that might be able to get there due to his penchant for explosive plays.
