Michigan basketball has never beaten the Mississippi Rebels

  • Overall series record: 0-1
  • First matchup: December 28, 1979
  • Last matchup: December 28, 1979
  • Last Score: Mississippi 71, Michigan 66

There’s just been one game between the Wolverines and the Rebels and it came more than four decades ago. It’s certainly not uncommon for Big Ten and SEC teams to face off, especially in tournaments, but these two programs simply haven’t been on each other’s schedules since 1979.

Mississippi prevailed 71-66 in the first game of the 1979 Sugar Bowl Tournament, a pre-New Year’s event that was held in New Orleans. Honestly, both Michigan and Ole Miss had mediocre seasons and it certainly wasn’t an upset; the Wolverines just haven’t had a chance to avenge that loss.
