Michigan Football Recruiting: BBQ at the Big House Visitor News and Updates
4 Star QB Akili Smith Jr.
Ranked as a top 100 player nationally, Smith is a big-time recruit. He’s from San Diego and has expressed significant interest in Michigan. Early on, Oregon appears to be the overwhelming favorite, but it’ll be interesting to see if Michigan can move the needle on this visit.
4 Star OL Carter Lowe
Ranked as a top 200 player out of Toledo, this one looks like a Michigan vs Ohio State battle early on. The two schools have both hosted the talented offensive lineman, and both appear to want him badly.
The BBQ will be Lowe’s seventh visit to Ann Arbor, while he has been to Ohio State four times. Michigan appears to have the early lead, but this one is far from over.
4 Star QB Ryan Montgomery
The brother of 2024 Ohio State commit Luke Montgomery, Ryan has been to Ann Arbor nine times, making July 30th the 10th time. With Bryce Underwood in the picture, Michigan football will likely play it slow with Montgomery.
If the Wolverines do push, they can definitely win Montgomery’s recruitment. Michigan has been in consistent communication with Montgomery, and he is showing the Wolverines plenty of love.

Something to watch for
Will five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood make an appearance? The staff has been in communication with Underwood, and they’re actively trying to get him on campus. Underwood is the most important recruit in the 2025 class for Michigan football.
It would be very beneficial for Underwood to be around recruits who could potentially be his teammates at Michigan. This is one to watch for.
