Michigan Football: Ohio State trending as the leader for Aaron Scott
Can Michigan football steal away Aaron Scott, one of the top players in the state of Ohio for the 2024 recruiting class?
We are getting closer to the start of fall camp for the Michigan football program. Another date that is rapidly approaching is July 30th — the commitment date of four-star cornerback Aaron Scott.
Scott is 6-foot, 170 pounds, and is ranked 52nd overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also the sixth-ranked cornerback in the 2024 class, as well as the No. 2 player in the Buckeye State.
Recently, Scott released a top three that includes Michigan football, Ohio State, and Oregon. However, according to all the intel, including a recent report by Chad Simmons of On3.com, this is a Wolverines-Buckeye battle for one of the top 2024 cornerbacks.
Of course, there is plenty of confidence on the Ohio State side of things. The Buckeyes have won most head-to-head battles, at least for Ohio recruits over the years for one thing. Another is that Scott has three crystal ball projections in favor of the Buckeyes too.
Bryce West was the most recent example of Ohio State beating out Michigan football for a top-ranked recruit from the state of Ohio.
The recent trend favors Ohio State football
Despite just a few crystal ball projections, Ohio State is trending with a number of expert projections from On3.com. The On3 prediction machine also gives the Buckeyes a 95.9 percent chance to win Scott’s commitment.
Simmons put in a pick for Ohio State in the last week and a number of others have done the same. There are five expert projections total from On3.com, which makes eight when combined with the crystal balls.
Those predictions aren’t always right. Just last month, Aaron Chiles, a top-100 recruit with a bunch of projections to Michigan football, up and committed to Florida, so it happens.
Charles Woodson and Marcus Ray have attempted to sway Scott on Twitter, but so did former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith.
The rivalry is alive and well and as much as I want the Wolverines to land Scott, it feels like the Buckeyes are going to pull this one out.
