Jaden Smith

To end it off, this is the recruit I am most excited to follow. I believe Jaden Smith is a legitimate All-American candidate down the line, and I even think he could end this recruiting cycle as a high four-star. The staff needs to make sure they hold onto him.

So why am I so excited about Smith? Well, Smith played the 2022 season at 6’0 180 lbs. He was playing with college-level skills and received his first offers. He’s now 6’3 200 lbs. He has an official 40-yard dash time of 4.54 as well. The average 40 time for linebackers at the NFL combine last season was 4.71 (per DraftKings).

Smith is currently rated as the #305 player in America, which is already over a hundred spots higher than when he committed to Michigan football.

Smith still seems extremely underrated to me, and I think the staff found a gem in him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a first-round pick down the line. I expect that his recruitment is going to pick up as time goes on, so this one may turn into a fight.

I’m going to be following Smith’s ranking throughout the season, as we’ll see how much he improves with his new size. Michigan football fans, you should be excited here.

Conclusion

No school in America evaluates talent better than Michigan. Yes, they miss out on many of the five-star prospects, but they’re able to make up for some of that by finding diamonds in the rough.

They’re able to consistently do this, and it’s been working lately. I think these are three excellent candidates for players who will outplay their ranking.
