Running Back Micah Kaapana

Many fans were disappointed when Kaapana committed since it meant the end of the Taylor Tatum recruitment.

Well, I think Kaapana has a chance to be one of the best backs in America down the line. In his junior season, Kaapana rushed for 1,001 yards and 15 touchdowns on SEVENTY carries.

Ranked as the #582 player in the nation, Kaapana gets penalized in the rankings since he plays in Nevada, but his tape is phenomenal. He shows excellent speed and elusiveness. He doesn’t shy away from contact and has a knack for hitting the right holes. He’s also a receiving threat and had 192 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

If that’s not enough, Mike Hart has a pretty good track record so far with underrated backs. CJ Stokes looked good last season.

Cole Cabana, who committed as a high three-star, ended the cycle ranked near the top 100. And Benjamin Hall, who many fans didn’t want in the 2023 class, had over 100 yards rushing in the Spring game and looked like a veteran.

Until our running back room slows down a bit, there is no reason at all to not trust Mike Hart’s evaluations. To me, Kaapana looks like a home run, and I think he’ll pair phenomenally with Jordan Marshall. That could be an electric duo in the future.
