Michigan football scored an important win with the commitment of Elias Rudolph.

It’s been a rough stretch for Michigan football recruiting. Since the end of June, things have been going about as badly as possible for the Wolverines as they’ve lost out on many top prospects. None hurt more than five-star Justin Scott’s commitment to Ohio State.

However, the Wolverines were able to stop the bleeding and land an important commitment from four-star EDGE Elias Rudolph. Rudolph originally attended Cincinnati Taft High School, but will be finishing his high school career in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

The talented EDGE chose Michigan over Pittsburgh and Miami, but held offers from teams like Ohio State and Georgia. At 6’4 205 lbs, Rudolph’s potential is sky-high if he can put on some weight. And who better to sculpt his frame than Ben Herbert?

Ranked as the #291 player in the nation per 247Sports composite rankings, Rudolph projects as a very high ceiling project. He is the third EDGE commit in the 2024 class for Michigan football and is currently the highest ranked.

What’s Next for Michigan football?

Rudolph’s commitment was so key, because it put a halt to the negative momentum. Also, adding another Ohio native to the class can’t hurt Michigan’s chances with Aaron Scott. This is one the staff needed to win, and it sets Michigan football up nicely for the coming month.

There are a handful of prospects that are nearing a decision. Some names include four stars Jacob Smith, Jordan Shipp, Gatlin Bair, Zaquan Patterson, and obviously Aaron Scott. Michigan will be hosting its annual BBQ at the Big House at the end of July, and they’re going to be doing everything in their power to get as many of these names there as possible.

Chris Ewald Jr. is expected to be in attendance, so it’s fair to wonder if teammate Zaquan Patterson could join him. Expect a more thorough list as the month progresses.

The commitment of Rudolph gives the Wolverines the momentum they need as peak commitment season progresses. Over the next 30-45 days, the majority of current top targets will likely have committed somewhere, making momentum crucial at the moment.

Rudolph marks an important win for Michigan, and his commitment could pay dividends with other prospects nearing their decision. Keep an eye out for any updates regarding other prospects, and Go Blue!
