Michigan football landed its 25th commitment in the 2024 recruiting class and here are three thoughts on the pledge of Elias Rudolph.

After a total gut punch on Sunday afternoon from priority target Justin Scott, Michigan football needed some good news on the recruiting trail and got it Monday with the commitment of four-star EDGE Elias Rudolph.

Rudolph is an exciting talent. He’s 6-foot-4, listed at 205 pounds, and is ranked No. 291 overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s the 23rd-ranked EDGE and the 24th-best out of the state of Florida.

Ohio State was one of the teams involved along with Miami, Penn State, and Pittsburgh. However, after Rudolph’s recent official visit, it was clear the way things were trending.

Rudolph is the 17th blue-chip commitment (4-star or higher) in the 2024 class for Michigan football, which has the No. 4 class right now according to the 247 Sports team rankings.

The one-time Cincinnati (Ohio) prospect is a big addition for Michigan football and here are three thoughts on his pledge for the Wolverines.

A much-needed win

Ohio State might have bowed out because it is trending with Dylan Stewart, a five-star EDGE, but this was still a solid recruiting win for Michigan football.

Penn State, Miami, and Ohio State were all expected to get official visits for Rudolph. He’s from Florida now but has Midwest ties and he’s the highest-ranked EDGE in the class.

Dominic Nichols is ranked 433rd overall. He also has a bunch of upside, and so does Devon Baxter. They are all long, athletic, pass rushers and it’s going to be fun to see what Mike Elston can do with their development.

Michigan football hasn’t had trouble developing pass rushers and with Elston coaching the defensive line, I’m even more confident in the Wolverines’ ability to take Rudolph and turn him into an early-round NFL draft pick.
