Michigan football was trending in the right direction for 4-star offensive lineman Michael Uini, but things have flipped around.

Things can change quickly on the recruiting trail, especially when there are heavy hitters like Georgia and Alabama involved. Michigan football was trending in the right direction for the commitment of four-star offensive line Michael Uini, at least following his visit.

Michigan football was even projected to land the four-star offensive tackle. However, Uini took an official visit to Georgia this past weekend, which was his final official visit in the month of June.

Michigan football hosted him on June 16th and there was optimism on the Michigan side of things, which was backed up by the expert projections.

However, as we said, when Georgia and Alabama are in the mix, you never really know what’s going to happen, and as of Wednesday, the Bulldogs started trending with crystal ball predictions including one from Steve Wiltfong.

There are new crystal balls in total. Georgia is also the heavy favorite according to the On3 prediction machine. Alabama is set for an official visit in the fall, so a lot of this is going to depend on the decision timeline.

If it does go into the fall, Michigan football could have a chance to work its way back into the mix. Yet, if the Bulldogs are able to capitalize and push for a commitment, well, the Wolverines wil have to look elsewhere.

Michigan football battling for Bennett Warren

Another option is four-star Bennett Warren. Warren is a top-10 offensive tackle in the 2024 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings out of Sugar Land, Texas. He’s 6-foot-7, 335 pounds, and ranked 144th overall.

Michigan football is the crystal ball leader. The On3 prediction machine also gives the Wolverines an 80-percent chance to win Warren’s commitment. However, there aren’t many exert projections at this point, and with such a highly-touted prospect, landing Warren won’t be easy.

Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma are all listed as “warm” on his 247 Sports profile. But, it feels like the Wolverines are in a much better position with Warren than Uini at least.
