In our latest Michigan Wolverines roundup, Michigan football misses on Bryce West, a commitment should be coming Sunday, and more.

The final official visit weekend of June is about wrapped up and Saturday was a busy day for the Michigan Wolverines, even if the news was about recruits not on campus to visit Michigan football.

For starters, one of the top recruiting targets for Michigan football in the 2024 class — Ohio cornerback Bryce West — committed to Ohio State on his official visit to Columbus.

It was a blow, yet it was expected. West took an official visit to Michigan football recently. So did fellow Ohio cornerback Aaron Scott. However, it was always going to be a tough pull for the Michigan Wolverines to land either and I’m thinking Scott will go the same way as West.

The good news is that Michigan football had a pair of four-star cornerbacks on campus for official visits, so hopefully, the Wolverines can create some positive movement with those guys.

Michigan Wolverines should be landing a commitment on Sunday

The good news should be coming on Sunday for Michigan football. Three-star EDGE Dominic Nichols has said he’ll make his commitment known Sunday at 1 PM EST.

That should be a commitment for Michigan football. All of the expert projections have been trending that way. Wisconsin was a threat at one point. However, Evan Flood, a Wisconsin expert for 247 Sports, put in a crystal ball Sunday morning for the Michigan Wolverines.

Clemson is also in the mix and was listed by Nichols in his top three. Yet, Michigan football still feels like it will get his commitment. That’s what I’m expecting at least.

I also think the Wolverines will be landing the commitment of four-star EDGE Jacob Smith soon after his official visit wraps up this weekend. Zach Carpenter, a Nebraska insider at Rivals, put in a Futurecast for Michigan football over the weekend.

Nebraska was the top contender in my book and when opposing insiders are putting in projections for the Wolverines, it’s usually a pretty good sign.

QB visits updates

Michigan football hosted five-star quarterback George MacIntyre over the weekend. The 6-foot-5 passer is ranked second in the 2025 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings and this is yet another unofficial visit for a top 2025 quarterback.

You have to like how Kirk Campbell isn’t putting all of his eggs in one basket. That’s probably also a good idea because Bryce Underwood isn’t going to be easy to land.

The top-ranked recruit in the 2025 class out of Belleville, Michigan, took a visit to Alabama over the weekend. Ohio State just took a 2025 quarterback, so the Buckeyes might not be as big of a threat, but landing Underwood will take some work.

Still, you have to like the way QB recruiting is going in the 2025 class with plenty of really good options on the board.
