Michigan football has been doing well on the recruiting trail and another 2024 commitment should be coming on Sunday.

There was some tough news for Michigan football recruiting on Saturday as four-star cornerback Bryce West committed to Ohio State.

That was expected. But until the announcement, there was still a reason to hold out hope, however slight in the race for the top-100 cornerback.

I’ll admit, I’m really worried about Aaron Scott too. I never really bought that Michigan football was in the lead. Certainly, the Wolverines did a stellar job last weekend on his official visit.

But if that momentum doesn’t carry over and if Ohio State is able to grab it right back, it won’t mean much. And with West committing the same weekend, it’s an ominous sign.

The Wolverines have some other four-star cornerbacks on campus, so there are still some good options left on the cornerback board. As far as EDGE, Michigan football suffered a win and a loss this week.

Devon Baxter committed earlier this week, while the Wolverines also missed out on Darien Mayo. That was a blow, however, three-star EDGE Dominic Nichols is trending toward a Michigan football commitment.

Nichols is ranked 433rd overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s 6-foot-5, 252 pounds, and out of Maryland. He’s the No. 28 EDGE in the 2024 class and after visiting a couple of weeks ago, he announced he’ll make his commitment known on Sunday.

The Wolverines have gotten all of the recent crystal ball projections. Wisconsin did get a crystal ball and had some momentum for a short time.

But this feels like the Wolverines all the way, although Nichols announced Wisconsin and Clemson as the other finalists in his top three.

Michigan football also seems to be on the verge of landing four-star EDGE Jacob Smith. All of the expert projections favor the Wolverines. He’s visiting along with his brother Jerod, a current 2024 commitment of the Wolverines and hopefully, they can close.

It appears they have closed with Nichols. We’ll know for sure on Sunday at 1 PM EST.
