Two Michigan Football games ranked among top 5 for 2023

Michigan football is playing some marquee games in 2023 and two of them are ranked among the top five games by 247 Sports next season. 

The 2023 Michigan football season is one of the most anticipated in recent memory. The Wolverines are fresh off back-to-back Big Ten titles and are viewed as a national title contender.

Michigan football was eliminated in the College Football Playoff semifinals in each of the past two seasons. Getting back there won’t be easy though, especially not with Ohio State and Penn State in the Big Ten East.

The Nittany Lions and Buckeyes are both top-10 teams and national title contenders in their own right. If former five-star QB Drew Allar can live up to the hype, Penn State could be really good.

Ohio State will also have a new starting quarterback but it’s hard to see any quarterback struggling with all the talent surrounding the position in Columbus.

At any rate, even though Michigan football doesn’t have any marquee non-conference matchups, there are some huge games on the schedule.

247 Sports ranked the top five games in college football for the 2023 season and it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Michigan fotoball is featured in two.

All eyes are on the Big Ten East

Penn State and Ohio State checked in at No. 5, which tells you how interested people will be in the Big Ten East race this season.

That game will be in Columbus. The fourth-ranked game is Michigan football at Penn State, while the No. 1 college football for 2023 is Michigan and Ohio State at the Big House.

It’s likely going to be the most-watch college football game once again this season and if both teams can manage to beat Penn State, the hype would be out of this world.

There is a lot of work to do and as a Michigan fan, I’m still weary of Michigan State, as well as the other games on the Big Ten schedule.

It’s hard to argue with the list put out by 247 Sports, especially since Georgia’s only game of interest this season is against Tennessee. But hopefully, the games live up to the hype and end the same way they did last year from a Michigan perspective.
