Michigan Football Recruiting: Updated predictions for 2024 class
DB: Jacob Oden (Committed), Aaron Scott, Bryce West, Terhyon Nichols
This would be a small defensive back class, but the staff is really focusing on the big-name players. Some other possible defensive backs I considered were Zaquan Patterson and Jordon Johnson-Rubell. Patterson seems more likely than Johnson-Rubell, but both love the Wolverines. I just don’t think they’ve done enough at the moment.
Jacob Oden could be Michigan’s best recruiter. He’s a true Michigan man. Terhyon Nichols is relatively unknown to Michigan football fans, but the staff has been recruiting him hard. He’s another Ohio CB and could very well commit to Michigan if made a priority.
Now, to the big names. Aaron Scott and Bryce West. Michigan has all the momentum in the world with both of them as we head into the weekend of their Ohio State visits. While Ohio State could very well wow them both, I really love what Steve Clinkscale is doing.
In an article posted by Buckeyescoop.com, West reported that he may make an unofficial visit back to Michigan before his Ohio State visit. While I haven’t heard any confirmation of whether or not he is making the visit, I have heard that Clinkscale has been doing a lot of work that hasn’t been publicly shared.
In that same article, West had a lot of positive things to say about Michigan. I honestly think Steve Clinkscale could win over both West and Scott. Michigan football may lead for Scott right now, and Clink is going to do everything he can to win Scott.
Ultimately, I think it comes down to November 25th. I think they get both if they win that game.
Conclusion
This would be Jim Harbaugh’s best class. My predictions give the Wolverines 32 commitments. While that seems like a ton, it’s likely going to be the new normal with the transfer portal and NIL becoming so popular.
This class would give the Wolverines a rating of 289.46 according to 247, which would have been good enough for the #4 class in the country in 2023. A top-five class should be the goal for Michigan. The Wolverines are in an excellent spot. Go Blue!
