Michigan Football expected to land another commitment Monday

Another commitment is likely coming on Monday night for Michigan football as Devon Baxter is going to announce his pledge. 

It seems like another commitment is coming for Michigan football as another 2024 recruit that was just on campus has announced a commitment date.

The player is three-star EDGE Devon Baxter and his commitment date is tonight, Monday, at 8 PM EST, which should give Michigan football fans plenty of reason to optimism.

Baxter started trending with expert projections even before his visit as EJ Holland of The Wolverine projected him to Michigan football in May. 

Now, after the completion of his visit, there are four crystal ball projections that have followed, which makes the commitment tonight feel like a foregone conclusion.

Another intriguing recruit for Michigan football

Baxter is 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, and is ranked 506th overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s out of Maryland and is the 12th-best player in that state out of Gwynn Park. Baxter is also the No. 32 EDGE.

Just looking at his stats, he seems raw, which is probably why he’s ranked a little lower. Baxter has four sacks over the past two seasons, two each in 2021 and 2022. However, he also had 21 tackles for loss.

In addition to playing defensive line, Baxter was a tight end last season. Watching his film, you can see the raw talent and it will be interesting to see what he could become at Michigan football.

Mike Elston is a technician as the D-line coach. He’s outstanding at developing players, as well as recruiting, and it will be fun to see what he can mold Baxter into.

Virginia Tech was expected to host Baxter for an official visit this weekend. And the weekend prior to his visiting Michigan football, he was at Rutgers. But now, it seems like it’s a one-horse race.
