Michigan basketball didn’t get good news about Paul Mulcahy this weekend but there could be more options available for the Wolverines.

Paul Mulcahy seemed like a pretty strong option for Michigan basketball in the transfer portal but according to Trilly Donovan, a Twitter account with a history of scoops, Mulcahy is focused on Gonzaga, Kentucky, and Notre Dame.

You could take this as a good sign for Michigan basketball in the pursuit of Antonio Reeves. The Kentucky guard isn’t in the transfer portal right now but he has enrolled in Illinois State to take graduate classes.

That could be to return to Kentucky for another season or to be able to transfer without sitting a year as a graduate transfer. Either way, he was a dynamic scorer at Kentucky last season and would be a huge addition with Caleb Love not in the plans anymore.

Indiana has also been rumored as a contender for Reeves if he does enter the transfer portal so Michigan basketball will have some competition. It will also be able to sell a lot, including a big role to Reeves or any other guard that joins the roster.

Another potential option for Michigan basketball

Raequan Battle is another name that Michigan basketball fans might want to pay attention to.  Battle is a West Virginia transfer. He went there after playing the past two seasons at Montana State, as well as the two seasons prior to that at Washington.

However, with all that went down with Bob Huggins, players now have 30 days to enter the portal again since Huggins stepped down on Saturday.

I  have no idea if Battle will enter the transfer portal or if Michigan basketball would have interest, but the Wolverines should. He’s 6-foot-5, averaged 17 points a game last season, and shot around 35 percent from 3-point range in each of the past two seasons.

Battle would be a solid roster fit and without a head coach, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him re-enter the transfer portal. Michigan seems like a fit and it’s something to watch.
