Michigan Wolverines news: It’s I’Marion Stewart commitment day, Jadyn Davis Elite 11 update, and more
In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Michigan football is expected to land a commitment on Friday, plus a Jadyn Davis Elite 11 update.
The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class should be adding another commitment on Friday as the Wolverines are expected to land I’Marion Stewart on Friday.
Stewart is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, and ranked as the No. 27 wideout in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
The Michigan Wolverines have been the long-time favorite for Stewart. However, Wisconsin and some others have made a late push. But the recent official visits seem to have put Michigan football in a favorable position.
All of the crystal ball projections are favoring the Michigan Wolverines at this point. The On3 prediction machine also has Michigan football as the heavy favorite.
The commitment of Stewart will be announced at 3:00 PM EST. He’s ranked 317th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. It would be another recruiting win in the state of Illinois too for Michigan football as Stewart is ranked seventh in Illinois in the 2024 class.
Jadyn Davis Day two at Elite 11
As I said on Thursday, I don’t put too much stock into things like the Elite 11. They are fun to follow, but it doesn’t really matter in the development of a quarterback.
Jadyn Davis was recently dropped to a four-star recruit by the 247 Sports composite rankings (thanks to On3) and he said he was out for respect this week.
Charles Powers of On3 doesn’t have Davis ranked among his top 11. However, 247 Sports has Davis, the future Michigan football quarterback, ranked sixth after two days.
Here’s what was written about Davis by 247 Sports:
"“Davis was hot and cold on Thursday, but we still believe that he’s one of the best in the group when it comes to layering the football to the short and intermediate parts of the field. It was also encouraging to see him get some zip on his deep shots.”"
Bryce West down to Michigan football and Ohio State
Top-100 cornerback Bryce West is down to Michigan football and Ohio State according to new reports. The Wolverines hosted him for an official visit recently. They will also host Aaron Scott for an official visit this weekend.
It will be interesting to see if Michigan football can win this battle with Ohio State for West. The Buckeyes have been viewed as the leader, but West told Chad Simmons of On3 it was 50/50.
We’ll see how it goes, but it’s good to know Michigan football is in the mix for a pair of elite cornerbacks in the state of Ohio. Now the Wolverines just need to close.
