In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, a five-star in 2025 visited Michigan football, the latest Michigan basketball rumblings, and more.

Michigan football hosted another five-star recruit Tuesday in the 2025 class as DJ Pickett posted on Twitter that he was visiting Ann Arbor.

This was Pickett’s third visit to Michigan football as the Michigan Wolverines seem to be trending up in this recruitment, but there is a long way to go.

Pickett has also been to Georgia three times in this calendar year on visits. Florida has done the same. Michigan football fans were certainly excited about the visit and the Wolverines feel like a contender but let’s not get ahead of ourselves either. Pickett will be an extremely tough pull.

The No. 7 overall recruit in the 2025 class would be an incredible addition though and with the way the Michigan Wolverines have been recruiting lately, you never know, especially with their new M-Power initiative.

Latest transfer portal rumblings for Michigan basketball

There was hope that Kentucky guard Antiono Reeves would be entering the transfer portal. If he did, it was reported that Michigan basketball would have an interest.

However, according to Chris Balas of The Wolverine, Reeves could be staying at Kentucky. It seems like the Wildcats announcing their new NIL collective or whatever could have made an impact.

It seemed like Reeves was hoping for a better NIL deal and if he announces a return to the Wildcats, you can expect he probably got it.

For Michigan basketball, it means that former Rutgers point guard Paul Mulcahy is the top target. Kentucky was also rumored to be in the mix there. But if the Wildcats have Reeves back in the fold, I don’t know that they would still be after Mulcahy.

The 6-foot-7 guard would be a valuable addition for the Michigan Wolverines. He could play the 2/3 for Michigan basketball, as well as the one when Dug McDaniel needs a breather.

It was clear last season that the Wolverines needed more guards. That’s why I’d be happy about the addition of Mulcahy, even if he doesn’t fit every single need on the roster.

  • The Michigan Wolverines have given hockey coach Brandon Naurato a five-year deal according to Ryan Zuke of MLive.com. Naurato led Michigan to the Frozen Four as the interim coach this past season and it’s good to see this deal get done.
  • In terms of Michigan basketball players, two should get selected in the 2023 NBA Draft — Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin. Both received green room invites from ESPN, which means both are expected to be first-round picks, which we already knew. It’s still cool.
