What about the five stars?

Everybody wants to know how things went with five star prospects Ryan Wingo and Justin Scott. Well, they went excellent.

With Wingo, Georgia remains the leader. It’s very likely that he stays south, but the Wolverines have inserted themselves squarely into the mix. Having already taken an official visit to Georgia, it’ll be key for the Wolverines to get Wingo back on campus. If they can show him an on-field example of Michigan football throwing the ball more, anything could happen.

Michigan is a dark horse in Wingo’s recruitment. Ron Bellamy has been putting in work, and he’s seeing some progress.

With Scott, the Wolverines have become legitimate contenders. The big question in this recruitment is the geography for the Chicago native. Scott loves Miami and Georgia. Taking geography out of the picture, those are likely his top two schools.

However, staying close to home is a legitimate concern. Scott’s family would prefer he stay closer to home according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, which could become a big factor in the recruitment. Among the midwest schools, notably Notre Dame and Ohio State, I believe Michigan would have an edge.

Like with Wingo, I think the Wolverines absolutely need to get Scott back on campus to take control of his recruitment. I think this is a far more winnable recruitment than Wingo’s. The Wolverines made a significant impact on Scott during his visit. This is one to watch over the coming months.
