Michigan Wolverines news: Recruiting buzz, a track national champ, and Donovan Edwards injury
The Michigan Wolverines have crowned a track and field national champion, plus there is plenty of recruiting buzz and more on Michigan football.
It’s an important recruiting weekend for Michigan football. The Michigan Wolverines are hosting a total of 13 recruits for official visits, including some five-star prospects.
Justin Scott and Ryan Wingo are probably the biggest names on campus this weekend, along with top-100 offensive lineman Bennett Warren. EDGE players Dominic Nichols, Elias Rudolph, and Owen Wafle are all on campus, along with DB Boo Carter and wideout I’Marion Stewart.
It’s a loaded weekend and some Michigan football commitments are hinting that the Michigan Wolverines are going to get some good news soon.
Three-star running back Micah Ka’apana started trending with expert projections at the start of the weekend. He’s also on campus and could be a candidate for a commitment.
Boo Carter is expected to announce soon after this visit. Tennessee has been the leader but the Michigan Wolverines are a real threat. We’ll see about Scott and Wingo. I still think they are long shots, but Warren already has a Michigan football crystal ball projection.
Either way, exciting things are happening so stayed tuned for Michigan football recruiting news because something good is coming.
Donovan Edwards played last season with an injury
We all know that Donovan Edwards played with an injured hand last season for Michigan football, but he also played with a knee injury too according to a report from ESPN.
Edwards played with a partially torn patellar tendon in his right knee for most of the season for the Michigan Wolverines, who went 13-1 and reached the College Football Playoff.
It’s wild that Edwards wasn’t anywhere close to 100 percent and still produced the way he did. It also makes me even more excited for the 2023 Michigan football season if he’s actually 100 percent.
Michigan Wolverines crown a national champion in the 400 hurdles
Savannah Sutherland notched a career achievement on Saturday in the NCAA track and field championships — running a 54.45 in the 400-meter hurdles to win the national title in the event.

It was a career-best time for Sutherland, who is the first individual national champion for the Michigan Wolverines to win in women’s track and field since 2017.
The time was nearly a full second better than her previous best. Sutherland also set a school record, the Canadian U23 record, a 2023 world top-10 mark, and a world standard via MGoBlue:
