We cover the Big Ten schedule release, which has some interesting matchups for Michigan football, and much more in our Michigan Wolverines news roundup.

After much speculation over the past few months, the Big Ten conference finally released its schedule model for when USC and UCLA join the conference in 2024. For Michigan football, it meant some clarity and also big changes.

The changes aren’t just for the Michigan Wolverines though. The entire Big Ten will be impacted by the fact that the divisions will be eliminated next season.

That’s something I hate. I hated the divisions, but hate the idea of Michigan football and Ohio State facing each other in a Big Ten title rematch one week after playing each other.

That makes no sense and is the strongest argument yet for eliminating the Big Ten title game. In my eyes, conference championship games need to go. Go back to the days of co-championships.

However, as far as the Michigan Wolverines’ future Big Ten schedules, Michigan football will face both UCLA and USC in 2024. The Wolverines will travel to USC, as well as road games against Illinois, Ohio State, and Rutgers.

The home slate in 2024 for Michigan football includes UCLA (Dante Moore), as well as Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, UCLA, and Wisconsin. All in all, 2024 is going to be a tough schedule for the Michigan Wolverines.

Texas is also coming to Ann Arbor. So Michigan football will face Ohio State, Texas, USC, UCLA, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Illinois. Heck, even the game at Rutgers isn’t a gimme.

The good news is that college football will have expanded to the 12-team playoff by then, so even a 10-2 record against that schedule should get Michigan football in the postseason.

In 2025, Michigan football will host Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, and Purdue. They will also avoid the California teams altogether — playing five road games against Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Michigan’s protected rivals are Ohio State and Michigan State. Not every Big Ten team wound up with three. UCLA and USC each have one — each other. Iowa has three. Nebraska has one and Penn State finished with zero.

Michigan Wolverines announce transfer portal additions

While Michigan basketball made one big addition via the transfer portal this week in Olivier Nkamhoua, the Wolverines also wiped away any concern about the other two transfers — Tray Jackson and Nimari Burnett as each was announced officially on Thursday.

Jackson is coming over from Seton Hall and should give the Wolverines some valuable minutes off the bench at the four and maybe even the three.

Nimari Burnett should be in the starting lineup. He’s a former five-star recruit and while his offensive game hasn’t exploded yet, he’s got reliable shooting ability and is an elite defender.

Nkamhoua was a big get, but it was also key to have these two announced. Now, the Michigan Wolverines need to add another scorer at guard or on the wing and Antonio Reeves is a name to watch. He’s expected to graduate and transfer out of Kentucky at some point.

If that happens, Juwan Howard and the Michigan Wolverines are expected to be a contender and he’d be a perfect Caleb Love replacement.

Duncan Robinson, Heat set for Game 4

Lastly, Michigan Wolverines hooper Duncan Robinson will be on the floor tonight for the Heat against the Nuggets in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

Robinson made three triples in a nine-point showing in Game 3, yet the Heat lost in lopsided fashion thanks to a triple-double from Nikola Jokic.
