Michigan Football: Top target to take official visit this weekend
Michigan football has been considered among the favorites for four-star wide receiver Jordan Shipp and now, it might have a chance to seal the deal.
There has been a lot of Michigan football recruiting news lately, especially when it comes to official visits in the 2024 recruiting class.
It’s that time of year. Recruits are taking their visits in June and many of them will be making commitment announcements soon after.
Some will take their time and take their recruitments into the fall. However, others probably have a good idea of where they are headed.
As far as the wide receiver position in the 2024 class, things have been interesting for Michigan football. Channing Goodwin is committed and he is a teammate of five-star QB commitment Jadyn Davis.
So far Goodwin is the only wide receiver pledged but there are a bunch more on the board. Gatlin Bair and Ryan Wingo, two top-100 recruits are both expected to take official visits this month, while a number of others will be visiting too.
Another name you can add to that list for official visitors in June according to Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider, this weekend actually, is four-star wideout Jordan Shipp, another teammate of Jordan Davis from Providence Day,
Can Michigan make a move with Jordan Shipp?
Shipp is 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, and ranked 413th overall. That puts him as a four-star according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Adding Shipp and Goodwin would be a solid haul. However, North Carolina State and North Carolina are making a push for Shipp. That’s why this official visit is important news. He also will visit Georgia and Virginia Tech according to what he told 247 Sports. There are no crystal ball projections at this time.
It will be interesting to see what the feeling is coming out of the weekend. Michigan football feels like it needs to make a move usually does on official visits. That could sway him to commit to the Wolverines over the in-state schools.
Georgia is always a threat. If the Bulldogs really make him a priority, they will be tough to beat. Either way, I think we’ll have a good idea of where things stand for Michigan football after this weekend as Shipp said he wants to announce a commitment in July.
