A number of top targets in the 2024 class included Michigan football as a finalist this week and here’s a breakdown of these recruitments.

There’s been a lot happening with Michigan football on the recruiting trail lately. Whether it’s commitments, expert projections, or official visits, there’s been lots of news.

That continued on Thursday as some top targets of Michigan football in the 2024 class released their lists of finalists and the Wolverines cracked the top four (or five or six) for a bunch of recruits on Thursday.

One of them was four-star wide receiver Bredell Richardson. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound wide receiver out of Tampa, Florida, is ranked 259th overall and 37th among wide receivers. Michigan State, Oregon, and LSU are also in the mix.

Richardson visited last June and is expected to take an official visit to Michigan football according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine. There aren’t any crystal ball projections for Richardson. The On3 prediction machine also favors Notre Dame but the Irish didn’t make the final four.

Tehryon Nichols is a four-star cornerback from Ohio and another top target for Michigan football. If the Wolverines miss on both Aaron Scott and Bryce West, two top-100 cornerbacks out of Ohio, landing Nichols will be a must.

The Wolverines made his top six and are one of four teams set to get an official right now along with Penn State, Kentucky, and Pittsburgh. Nichols is out of Cincinnati and is 6 feet, 180 pounds. He’s also ranked 329th overall in the 2024 class, as well as 29th among corners. He doesn’t have any crystal ball projections either.

Another recruit that Michigan is a finalist for is 2024 EDGE DD Holmes. He’s a 6-foot-6, 240-pound EDGE ranked as a four-star by the On3 Industry rankings. Penn State and Florida State seem to have a slight lead, but the Wolverines are a team to watch.

There are lots of moving parts with the EDGE board right now, but Holmes has a ton of upside and Mike Elston would know exactly what to do with his raw ability.

The Wolverines also made the top six for offensive tackle Michael Uini. U-M is still looking to add at least another tackle to the mix. They are also after No. 1 offensive tackle Brandon Baker in 2024.

Like Baker, Uini won’t be an easy land. Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and Texas were the other finalists. Michigan is expected to get an official visit and you never know with offensive line recruiting, but at least it’s not a huge need right now in the 2024 class.
