Michigan football has picked up a slew of crystal ball projections on Wednesday morning to land 2024 EDGE Owen Wafle, a former Notre Dame pledge.

At the start of Tuesday, three-star EDGE Owen Wafle was committed to Notre Dame. But after a decommitment and a bunch of crystal ball projections, it looks like he will be a Michigan football commit before long.

The pass rusher out of New Jersey had been committed to Notre Dame for just more than a year after he announced his pledge on May 16th of 2022.

However, Chris Partridge and Michigan football have been doing work. The Wolverines hosted Wafle for an unofficial visit at the end of last month and have been recruiting him in the background according to Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider.

The effort to flip him finally succeeded and on Wednesday, Wafle announced he was re-opening his recruitment.

Michigan football projected to finish a flip

Wafle is ranked as the No. 404 prospect overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2024 class and is the No. 30 EDGE prospect. 247 Sports has him ranked 21st among EDGE players in its own rankings.

A bunch of teams have offered including Iowa and Minnesota of the Big Ten as well as Oklahoma back in 2022. According to 247 Sports, the offer from Michigan football came on Wednesday, the same day as the decommitment.

Notre Dame fans will probably come up with a reason why they don’t care about the decommitment. But there weren’t any signs this was coming until the announcement and the crystal ball projections that followed for Michigan football.

The Wolverines were projected to land a different EDGE on Tuesday as four-star Darien Mayo got an expert prediction for Michigan football from Chad Simmons of On3.com.

Even though Wafle is categorized as an EDGE by 247 Sports, he’s listed at 6-foot-3, 290 pounds which makes it seem like he’ll be more of a five-technique or a three-technique for U-M.

The Wolverines love versatile defensive linemen and it looks like there’s a very strong chance they’ll be adding another to the 2024 class very soon.
