Michigan football has already landed a top-100 running back in 2024 and there’s a chance the Wolverines could be landing another in Taylor Tatum.

If you’re a running back, you’d have to think that Michigan football would be pretty high up on the list of teams that’d you want to play for.

The Wolverines have won the award for having the best offensive line in college football for two years running. Beyond that, Jim Harbaugh loves to pound the rock.

Heck, the offensive coordinator is Sherrone Moore, the former offensive line coach and he loves to “smash” other teams in the mouth.

The Wolverines ran the ball over 500 times last season, so even though they already have Jordan Marshall committed in the 2024 class, they are still looking for more.

Marshall, the elite running back from Ohio, is ranked among the top 10 at his position and the top 100 overall by the 247 Sports composite rankings.

However, Michigan football might be done adding elite talent at running back in the 2024 class as four-star running back Taylor Tatum, who is just beyond a five-star ranking, is also strongly considering the Wolverines.

Where does Michigan football stand with Taylor Tatum?

Tatum is the No. 2 running back in the country according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and is ranked 33rd overall, as well as the No. 6 player in the state of Texas.

Landing his commitment won’t be easy, especially with USC and Oklahoma chief among the contenders.

However, Tatum talked to EJ Holland of the Wolverine said in regards to teaming up with Jordan Marshall, the way Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards have, “That’s a 1-2 punch I’m ready to be a part of.”

That’s music to the ears of Michigan football fans. The Wolverines have already received a crystal ball projection from Texas insider Mike Roach, who covers the Longhorns.

Tatum is from Texas, so you have to take that prediction seriously. The On3 prediction machine currently favors USC but the percentage is just 23 percent, so this recruitment is still pretty wide open.

The potential two-way athlete at Michigan (also plays baseball) told Holland that Mike Hart texts him every day. It’s far from a slam dunk, but the Wolverines definitely have a shot and as I said, if you’re a running back, Michigan is a great place to go.
