7. Ty Law, defensive back

It was great to see former Michigan football defender Ty Law get his due and get elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.

The honor was well deserved and simply put, Law was one of the best defensive backs in NFL history. Outside of Charles Woodson, he’s probably the best Michigan alum to ever play in the secondary, and the Wolverines have had a few good ones on this list already.

Law had 12 NFL seasons with at least two interceptions and started a total of 189 games. He was twice selected as a First-Team All-Pro. Once in 1998, when he picked off nine passes for the Patriots, and also in 2005 when he had 10 interceptions for the Jets.

The former Wolverine also played a huge role in one of the biggest upsets in NFL history. He intercepted Kurt Warner and returned it for a touchdown for the Patriots in their upset of the “Greatest Show on Turf” in Super Bowl 36.

To his credit, Law was a good tackler too. He finished his career with five sacks, five forced fumbles, 17 fumble recoveries, as well as an eye-popping seven career touchdowns.

The dude was the definition of a ball hawk.
