Sunday was another great day for the Michigan Wolverines who won an NCAA tournament game in lacrosse, as well as two more Big Ten titles.

The way that the Michigan Wolverines compete and frankly dominate in the non-revenue sports, they might as well be in the Pac-12.

That’s a joke and probably not a very funny one, but the part about Michigan dominating in non-major sports is accurate.

The Wolverines keep putting up achievements and winning Big Ten championships. On Sunday, one week after winning the Big Ten lacrosse title, the men’s team won their first-ever NCAA tournament game with a 15-14 overtime win over Cornell.

Peter Thompson who had four goals and an assist in the win, scored a goal in overtime for the Wolverines as they knocked off No. 6 Cornell to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals.

It was a historic win for the Michigan Wolverines, but far from the only headline of the weekend. Both tennis teams advanced to the national quarterfinals in their respective brackets, while the Michigan Wolverines also won another Big Ten championship in women’s track and field.

The Wolverines won five individual championships including one in the 400-meter dash by Ziyah Holman, who has now won five Big Ten titles. Michigan won the Big Ten regular-season title too.

Michigan also won a Big Ten championship on Sunday in women’s rowing. It was the eighth overall in that sport for the Wolverines and goes along with many other Big Ten championships for Michigan in a variety of sports.

Football and basketball are the two sports most people pay attention to. However, the Wolverines have found a way to be successful in many others. They also are the only team to reach the Final Four in football, men’s basketball, hockey, and baseball in the past four years.

Oh, they also made the Elite 8 and consecutive Sweet 16 appearances in women’s basketball, so in terms of overall success, few schools can match Michigan’s success.
