Michigan basketball has made contact with Ball State guard Jaylin Sellers who is in the transfer portal and why it’s a move that would make sense.

Things have slowed down a little bit for Michigan basketball and the transfer portal, but that’s just the exterior.

The Wolverines haven’t made any additions since adding Caleb Love, Nimiar Burnett, and Tray Jackson, three players Michigan basketball still hasn’t announced.

Love publicly said he will play for Michigan basketball next season. At this point, there are no indications that any of the guys won’t be playing for the Wolverines, although, with the admissions/transfer process at U-M, you never know.

The Wolverines have two scholarships available right now and they are looking to make additions. Former Tennessee forward Olivier Nkamhoua is likely going to be a Wolverine if he plays college basketball next season but that’s a big if.

He’s taking part in the G-League camp after not receiving an invite to the NBA draft combine. Nkamhoua could play overseas too but is also the top-ranked power forward in the transfer portal according to On3, so he should be able to improve his draft stock and get an NIL deal.

Will that happen at Michigan? We’ll see. Warren Washington, an Arizona State center who is a really good rim protector is another possibility.

Another name Michigan basketball fans need to know is Jaylin Sellers, a guard from Ball State that has entered the portal. He’s 6-foot-4 and an elite shooter. He also averaged more than 13 points per game last season.

Sellers shot better than 44 percent from 3-point range in each of his first two seasons and is the kind of shooter the Wolverines really need.

Caleb Love is a dynamic scorer and he can be a solid 3-point shooter too, but the Wolverines need more shooting and frankly, you can never really have enough.

I don’t know if Sellers would even start, but there’s no question that the Wolverines need another elite shooter on the perimeter and Sellars would be a good fit if they can make it happen.

Michigan needs a 4/5 type and another guy who can shoot/play on the wing. Sellers is the latter to me and that’s why it would be a good move. Davis Mosley of The Michigan Insider is also reporting that Michigan is reaching out.

That doesn’t mean a lot. However, Juwan Howard and company have a good reputation for sending guards to the NBA and we’ll see if that attracts Sellers to a team that could use his shooting.
