In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Michigan football lands a new commitment, the lacrosse teams make the NCAA tournament, and more.

The Michigan football program continued to add its No. 1 overall ranking right now in the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2024 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star wide receiver Channing Goodwin.

Goodwin is a teammate of five-star quarterback commitment Jadyn Davis. His dad was also a former starter and NFL standout, Jonathan Goodwin. So another Michigan football legacy is coming home and the Wolverines add a talented, yet underrated receiver.

Goodwin caught 15 touchdown passes last season and hauled in 68 receptions, averaging just under 15 yards per reception. Beyond that, Goodwin has the trust of Davis, which should help him find the field even faster once he’s a Michigan football player.

247 Sports has him rated at No. 241 overall in their Top 247 and that’s much more accurate to me. No way should Channing Goodwin be ranked outside the top 500 and he’s 511th in the composite rankings right now.

However, regardless of the ranking, this is a really good get for Michigan football. Plus, when it comes to evaluations, I trust the Michigan Wolverines coaching staff more than I do recruiting analysts. Jim Harbaugh and crew know what they’re doing and this is a good get.

Michigan Wolverines make NCAA lacrosse tournaments

For the first time ever, the Michigan Wolverines men’s lacrosse team will play in the NCAA tournament. Michigan won the Big Ten championship on Sunday with a win over Maryland and will take on No. 6 Cornell Sunday in the NCAA tournament.

The game will be on ESPNU at 2:30 EST. Michigan was one of four Big Ten teams to make the field, but it’s the first time going for the 15th-ranked Wolverines.

Michigan’s women’s lacrosse team also advanced to the NCAA tournament after getting an at-large selection. The Michigan Wolverines will take on Central Michigan on Friday.
