3 thoughts on Channing Goodwin’s commitment to Michigan Football
The Wolverines landed the commitment of Channing Goodwin on Sunday and here are three thoughts for Michigan football.
Michigan football continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail and on Sunday, the Wolverines finally landed long-time target Channing Goodwin.
If we are being honest, this commitment has probably been expected for almost a year now. Goodwin is a Michigan football legacy — the son of former offensive lineman Jonathan Goodwin — and also the teammate of five-star QB commitment Jadyn Davis.
Goodwin is ranked as a three-star prospect according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, yet he’s also part of the Top 247 ranked No. 241 overall in the 247 Sports specific rankings. He’s ranked 511th in the composite.
At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Goodwin has been a top target out of Providence Day in Charlotte, North Carolina, and here are three thoughts on his commitment to Michigan football.
An important commitment
Michigan football has the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2024 according to the 247 Sports composite rankings but one position the Wolverines hadn’t gotten a commitment yet was at wide receiver, which is why this is an important commitment.
Goodwin might be a three-star but I tend to agree more with the 247 Sports ranking. Last season, he caught 68 passes for 962 yards and hauled in 15 touchdowns last season. He also averaged nearly 15 yards per reception.
North Carolina, North Carolina State, and some other schools were in the mix, but Goodwin has always felt like a Michigan lean and once Davis pledged, it felt like just a matter of time.
And while the 2024 class is loaded with offensive linemen, Michigan football has been loading up on some skill guys in the past month and Goodwin is another solid get in that department.
