Top target from Ohio sets official visit to Michigan Football
Michigan football is viewed as the current leader when it comes to four-star EDGE Brian Robinson and here’s the latest as he’s set for an official visit.
Official visits might not be quite as significant as they used to be, but visits are still a huge part of the recruiting process and therefore, it’s good news that one of the top targets for Michigan football in the 2024 class will be taking an official visit to Ann Arbor.
The player in question is four-star EDGE Brian Robinson, who is out of Fitch, Ohio. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder is rated as the No. 125 recruit overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also the 11th-best EDGE and the No. 4 player in Ohio.
Michigan football has started to build some recruiting momentum in the state of Ohio over the past two cycles, with a slew of commitments near the end of the 2023 class, as well as the additions of Jordan Marshall and Ben Roebuck in 2024.
Robinson is another kid from Ohio that’s already been projected to Michigan football. Ohio State hasn’t offered and that’s interesting since he’s one of the best pass rushers in the country, as well as one of the best recruits in the Buckeye State.
Where things stand with Brian Robinson’s recruitment
You wonder if Ohio State did offer if that could change things, but right now, Michigan football is the clear leader with Robinson, at least according to the four crystal ball projections for the Wolverines from 247 Sports.
The On3 prediction machine also has Michigan football as the favorite, giving the Wolverines a better than 70 percent. However, a Kentucky insider put in a pick for the Wildcats earlier this month and Kentucky has done a great job of recruiting Ohio under Mark Stoops.
The Stoops have strong ties to Ohio and Kentucky is one of the three teams to get an official visit as it was announced on Friday. Michigan is the other along with Penn State.
It will be interesting to see if other visits are taken or if those three teams are essentially the top three right now for Robinson. He’s visited Michigan football a total of nine times. Penn State has had him on campus seven times and Kentucky is at four. Ohio State has also hosted Robinson for four visits but hasn’t offered and none of those visits came in 2023.
This spring, Robinson has been to Penn State, Michigan, Kentucky, and Nebraska. The Huskers are a team to watch for an official visit after the Ohio EDGE seemed to really enjoy his trip to Lincoln.
Still, the official visit has me feeling good about where Michigan stands and if the Wolverines continue to push hard as they have been, I think they have a good shot to win out.
